APC extends membership registration, revalidation by five weeks

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its nationwide membership registration and revalidation by another five weeks.

The exercise was earlier scheduled to end tomorrow (Tuesday, February 23), but will now end on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

The extension was contained in a statement yesterday in Abuja by the Secretary of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.

The Secretary said feedback from across the country showed that the exercise was a huge success.

He noted that many old and new members have been trooping out in large numbers for the exercise, which necessitated the extension.

“The feedback across the states have been overwhelming and beyond projected success level; with a massive turnout of intending registrants beyond the expectation of the party.

“This development is responsible for the shortage of registration materials recorded in many states across the country and thereby warranting an extension of the exercise to give every interested Nigerian the opportunity to officially identify with the ruling party, the APC.”

“We have received a nationwide acknowledgement of the increasing popularity of the APC, and most especially in States that are being governed by the opposition party,” Akpanudoedehe said.

The Secretary noted that despite biases in some sections and attempts to rubbish the good works of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the strong, impressive response of the public in the current registration had spoken the true minds of Nigerians and ended what he called the false narrative of party’s critics, cynics and the opposition.

He said additional registration materials had been distributed to be commensurate with the demands in most States.

The statement hailed the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello-led Youth, Women Mobilisation and Persons with Disabilities’ Sensitisation Committee as well as the National Registration, Revalidation Committee, led by Niger State Governor Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, the states’ steering committees for the exercise and all party officials who are directly and indirectly involved in the exercise from the outset.
