All the aspirants gunning for the presidency of the country in the different political parties are expected to show up for a Ramadan dinner with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, on Saturday, April 23.
According to a copy of the invitation card obtained online, the presidential aspirants are expected to present their invitation cards at the gate of the venue otherwise they may be turned back.
The presidential aspirants were also instructed to leave their phones behind when coming for the dinner.
Aisha Buhari’s dinner with the aspirants may present a dilemma to some of the presidential hopefuls, especially those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is an aspirant for the APC presidential ticket and he is expected to show up for the dinner without his phone and his gate pass. His aides may find that troubling.
Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, who without his base Buhari may never have won the presidency, would also have to appear at the dinner venue with his invitation card, and without a phone on him.
If any of the two men choose not to attend the dinner, they may fear that it could undermine their chances since Aisha’s husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, has the ace vote on who becomes the APC presidential candidate.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirants do not have any of these troubles. Missing the dinner won’t have any significant bearing on their chances of clinching the presidential ticket of the party.
Meanwhile, eyebrows are being raised as to why the First Lady who lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, would summon presidential aspirants to a Ramadan dinner.
